The context I am using exercise, has two definitions.

1st definition: A ~conventional definition used by Gym owners, and professionals like Personal Trainers, Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, Biomechanists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Movement specialists, and more like perhaps even Doctors. These places like gyms, and professionals like mentioned before, adopt principles like the following (not mutually exclusive)

(1) The body only in space, from one range, to it's other extreme end range of motion, in combination/s of planes like the Sagital, Frontal, and Transverse planes. overall height, length of limbs, femur, hip bones, hip/femur... bodyweight... add more body weight? (eat more food?)...
(2) Things may be added on to the body... clothings like a facemask, layers of clothing, ascending loads of clothings, a dumbell, a ball.. an axe... a mace... etc... in the hand 5kg..., in one hand... both hands... (2a). Use the load by launching it off your body (throwing...) e.g. throwing a dumbbell vertically in the air, catching... having a barbell on the upper back... on one of your shoulders... you might wrap a resistance band around a or many areas of your body/bodies, anchored by someone else.. around a pole... around a gymnastic rack... you might want to move away from that anchor point/s...
(3) Things may more temporarily interact with the body... horizontal surfaces like the floor... wooden, mats... sand... water? grass... soil... rock... pebbles... which we might put only our feet on (stand on), feet and hands (crawl?), the floor may be like raised via a box on the floor... chairs... mattresses... to ascending incline to a more vertical position... rain, wind, hot weather...
(4 (~1 +/~- 2 ~+/- 3)) and peforming generally repetition/s of the movement... less repitions usually involves higher weights, difficulties, so strength is usually more obtained... You might want to peforming these repitions within a certain time frame like 6 repeititions in 20 seconds..
(5) A rest period of varied lengths, from no rest, to it is generally a maxium of like 5 minutes for more strength training) is usually done... the rest can be sitting, standing, just moving your arms, etc... and then
(6) 1-4 is a single set for a given movement, and perhaps that given movement may be repeated for more than one time, perhaps 5 times, and/or you could move to the next movement...
(7) You then might like to rest from 1-5 for a longer duration like 4 hours... 1 day... 2 days... 4 days... etc. Larger difficulties, and 1-5 done less regularly might require you to rest more otherwise you may get a syndrome like Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)...
(8(1+/-2 +/-3+/-4 +/-5+/-6 +/-7)) As you exercise, what was hard, can become easy, easier... you become more stronger, more powerful, have better endurance... you might become more healthy... more able to handle stress... and that stress effecting you less perhaps... you might get a better looking body, become more aesthetic, more attractive... and when exercised enough, the discrepany between someone who has exercised and he which didn't exercise could be so great that the person which didn't exercise might not be able to peform the task, and lose... and perhaps die... so preparation is important... and if that person which exercised is like your enemy, and you aren't conditioned, the bad can win...

2nd definition:

The second definition is more loose.. and involves generally the idea of progressing, getting better at something... and what is like hard, becomes easy, easier... over time... over resting, eating, sleeping, etc. Examples here could include reading books, playing musical instruments, singing, playing video games? (if Poker is a Sport, why is not a video game like Dota 2 a sport? They are exercise, but mainly of like your hands and it's fingers like index finger in contact with the mouse...    you might want your exercise to be more done using coordination of a monitor, keyboard... mouse... and using those three with the computer software.. microsoft, apple... software within like Steam to play games like Dota 2... which has all this code... done for you... simply speaking... and are able to play against teams of 5... and have a ranking system from lowest, worst... to highest... the best... and perhaps even win 17.2 Million Dollars for the team which wins in a... Esports game like Dota 2... you might want to do more virtual reality using goggles... etc...  you might breathe at a specific tempo... peforming this moment at varied tempo's to target specfic parts of the movement to allow a specific effect e.g. the longer the duration held, the more slow twich, stabilser muscles are recruited...

Generally provides an indirect way, and more easier way to increase productivity at work, your main exercise. The greatest exercise might be to actually do the work first. But perhaps the tougher the consequences.
